About the Branch

A Local Branch With a National Legacy

The NAACP Rockford, Illinois Branch carries forward the historic work of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. That work is rooted in civil rights, equal protection, educational opportunity, economic fairness, voting rights, housing equity, youth leadership, and community empowerment.

In Rockford, this work must be local, practical, and visible. The branch exists to connect people, respond to concerns, support families, encourage civic responsibility, and help build a stronger community.

The NAACP was founded in 1909 and has stood as one of the nation's most important civil rights organizations. The Rockford Branch continues that work locally through advocacy, education, service, partnership, and community action.
